This section will provide information on the types of licenses available for Pixar software. The type of license you will receive may affect your installation process.
Follow these general instructions to install and configure your RenderMan software. Use the hyperlinks to access detailed licensing and platform-specific instructions. If you are not already, please be sure you're familiar with the license agreement and legal notices.

Important Information
Minimum System Requirements
The following operating systems are supported for this release:
- Linux with one of the following gcc/glibc packages installed:
- gcc 4.0.2/glibc 2.3.4
- gcc 4.1.0/glibc 2.4
Macintosh OS X 10.7.x or higher
Windows Vista or 7
Additionally, RenderMan Pro Server requires SSE2-compliant processors. Macintosh support is limited to Intel chipsets only; PowerPC is no longer supported.
Suggested Configurations
The following configurations are recommended for optimal multi-processor performance.
- Windows 7 (64-bit) - VisualStudio 2010
- Macintosh OS X 10.7.x (64-bit) - gcc 4.2
- Linux kernel 2.6.32 or higher (64-bit) - gcc 4.4/glibc 2.11
