1. Complete Online Survey
Submit the survey and your expired license will be renewed. You also have the option to move your license to a new host.
2. Update Your License
Run the RenderMan Installer and enter your forum login and password.
3. Run RenderMan
Your license is renewed. Enjoy RenderMan for another 120 days!
RenderMan is free for all non-commercial purposes, including evaluations, education, research, and personal projects. The non-commercial version of RenderMan is fully functional without watermark or limitation, all you need to do is use the "rendered with RenderMan" logo in your credits.
Your forum account entitles you to 2 node-locked licenses which expire every 120 days. Upon expiration, you will get a notification to renew your license online for another 120 days. For further details on your license renewal please refer to our FAQ below.

Yes. Once you renew your license, you may continue to use Non-Commercial RenderMan for your non-commercial projects. Renewal is free.
If you'd like to upgrade to a commercial license with maintenance you'll be able to use RenderMan on commercial projects, receive full technical support, and participate in our RenderMan Beta programs.

The LicenseApp program, will detect an expired NCR license and give you two options, to renew NCR or upgrade to a commercial license. Choose your preference and a browser will launch with further instructions.
Yes, you need to keep the LicenseApp running while the survey is completed in the browser.
RenderMan is installed by default into a “read only” directory. Simply change the permissions of the RenderMan installation to make it writable. In fact, the only file you need to change is the license file itself, called pixar.license.
Simply re-run the NCR Installer, after completing the Online Survey. With a complete install, everything should work.

CPU
RenderMan requires x86-64 and SSE4.2 instruction set (introduced 2007). RenderMan threading scales well with multiple CPU cores and Hyper-Threading; results vary by scene.
GPU
Using the GPU Denoiser requires CUDA 8.0 (compute capability 2.0 or later) and a capable NVIDIA graphics card with support. If not, Denoise will fallback to CPU automatically.
Memory
RenderMan needs a minimum of 4GB of RAM. For best performance we recommend 8GB of RAM. Maximum RAM depends on scene complexity.
Plugins
Custom plugins can utilize C++14 and must be compiled with gcc6.3
