This is the official asset for RenderMan's "SciTech" Art Challenge.
The assets for this art challenge were made in honor of RenderMan's IEEE Milestone Award, including a model inspired by the Pixar Image Computer! To highlight the art challenge's theme of "compute," the 3D models also include present landmarks in computing at Pixar, courtesy of AMD and NVIDIA.
A model depicting an AMD Threadripper is included, the very same processor technology used to render and denoise films today at Pixar. NVIDIA technology is also used today at Pixar and is highlighted by two 3D models, the DGX B200, a unified AI platform powered by 8 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, and the Quadro RTX 8000, which marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of graphics technology thanks to dedicated RT and Tensor cores.
The technologies at AMD and NVIDIA exemplify the new hybrid processing needs at Pixar, where artists will have better creative experiences thanks to the speed of RenderMan XPU, leveraging the power of both CPUs and GPUs.
Although the included assets created by Pixar artists Joshua Mills and Eugene Riecansky are not a perfect replica and will be missing proprietary computing internals, they are artistic representations faithful to the original designs.
RenderMan's very own Walking Teapot is also included ... in its mechanical form of course, and is a creation of Pixar artist, Dylan Sisson.
Even though the downloadable project provides a good starting point for your challenge entry, you're not limited by it, you can download any Poly Haven, SpeedTree, or Embergen asset to support the narrative in your entry.
The amazing team at Poly Haven have converted all of their assets to FBX and USD format, making it very easy to get started with their wonderful library of free 3D models, textures, and HDRI!

Embergen has a great set of free explosions, clouds, tornados, fire, and other fun volumes. They also come with a CC0 license, so feel free to use them!
